Sep 21, 2012 — Let’s face it, LA can be a pretty sceney town. Every day there’s some new story about the latest hotspot or freshest celebrity hangout, or which new restaurant just opened from that chef who won that show nobody admits they watch even though everyone does.
For those who care more about what they see on their plates than who they see sitting nearby, however, there is a wealth of city venues that offer a dedicated approach to quality while still maintaining a largely casual vibe, and there may be no better place to find that than at the many gastropubs in Los Angeles.
LA gastropubs – at least the ones we like – host that perfect unison of a stellar drinks selection paired with equally stellar food. They’re where you can suck the bone marrow out a of dry-aged rib-eye in-between snorts of a 15 year-old whiskey, or where the froth of a craft beer melds with the aroma of something you’d be willing to drive across the 405 during rush hour to taste.
Gastropubs in LA don’t require you to don a tuxedo or wait behind a velvet rope to gain entry, but they do ask you ditch the Bud Light and pretzels, at least for one night.
