Good for certain events

As an avid concert go-er I have been to many venues, especially in the LA/OC area. Being from Orange County, Verizon Amphitheater has been the go-to venue for me since I was younger, however, I have noticed its steady decline in the last few years. The venue isn't exactly the problem, there just aren't as many good performers wanting to come there anymore. If you are looking for season tickets, I recommend a different venue. If you are just going to one specific show then the Verizon Amphitheater is perfect because there really aren't any bad seats and the crowds are usually always looking to just have a good time.

I love concerts! They are always so much fun to go to with family or friends. This venue has many big name performs and there is no bad seat. The place plays great music and it a great night out. Although the food can be very expensive, it is like that at most venues. Furthermore, this is one place where you can have that out door concert experience. Most concerts are now indoors like at Honda or Staples but Verizon is different. The out door environment provides you with a whole different experience. The setting is much more relaxed and you can look up and see the sky. Though it could become hot or cold depending on the time of the year, this is still a great place to see you favorite entertainers.
The Verizon Wireless Ampitheater- a Shadow of its former self.
Dan R. Feb 20, 2013
Located in the heart of Southern California, the once mighty Verizon Wireless Ampitheater has become a shadow of its former self. At one time, this venue was the place to see live music in Orange County., however, times have changed. Due to a sound ordinance imposed by the city of Irvine, there are places within the amphitheater where sound levels are ridiculously low, particularly in the lawn section. When certain bands are playing, If you have the misfortune of sitting in the lawn section, prepare yourself. With a total lack of security personnel, on any given night it is commonplace to see raging fires started by concert goers, impromptu mosh pits, and innocent bystanders being knocked to the ground. If this is your idea of fun, then perhaps the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater is for you However, to many it is no surprise that this venue is closing in 2017.

I absolutely love the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater! I saw the Jonas Brothers here a few years ago and it was honestly one of the best concerts i've ever been to. They even filmed part of there movie at the concert i went to! The sound is amazing in the center, despite it being outdoors. Every seat in the house is great too. The lawn tickets are great too! They are very cheap and it is fun going with a big group of friends and sitting on the lawn. Getting parking is super easy, you dont have to get there really early to find parking. The people are really nice and it is in a safe area! The atmosphere is incredible in the amphitheater.
good venue

Usually for outdoor concerts I go to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine. Because of its large size, its worth it to pay more and sit closer to the stage if you really like the artist so you should definitely try to get good tickets to whatever event you are seeing. The music quality isn’t that good. Otherwise, try to get lawn seats (if you are young) so that you can meet up with people. It gets chilly at night too so that is another thing to take into consideration when attending a concert outdoors.
Perfect Concert Venue

I have been to multiple concerts at this venue and have sat in both the lawn seats and regular seats. I personally loved sitting in the lawn section because it is like having a concert in your own back yard. You get to spread out with your blankets and your friends and hang out while listening to some great bands. I am a big country music fan and a ton of country artists play at this venue. Tickets are never really that expensive and they have some great food options at the venue. Parking is not a big of a hassle as it is at other venues, as well. Overall, I recommend this venue to anyone who loves concerts!
Perfect summer concert spot.

The verizon wireless amphitheater is one of my favorite venues ever. Great bands and singers come from all over and perform there. Oddly enough, the best seats in the house (to me) are the lawn section! Which is also the cheapest! Come and bring a blanket to sit on and not only are you saving money, but you are enjoying the concert while laying on the long with your friends and picnic-ing! They let you bring in whatever food you want and they have alcohol posts at the top of the lawn when you feel like treating yourself to a drink. Such an easy venue to get to and no hassle involved! Friends and I always buy lawn tickets and sit anywhere on the lawn we like! so cool!
Great venue with bonfires on the lawn

Love this venue. I've seen countless shows here. Though I'll always know it Irvine Meadows. Getting to the venue from LA can be a bit of a nightmare, especially on a Friday night. But once you're there, it's well worth the drive. Drinks can be a little pricey - but that's why you do a little tailgating in the parking lot! You can always get other things past the guards as well. And lately every show I go to, there seems to be a bonfire up in the grass field. Even the performers on stage mention it at times. Not sure how security lets people get away with it. I think last time they burned some tables and chairs...along with lumber taken from a nearby orphanage. Those poor little kids...
Ants On The Stage

I went to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater to check out Kings of Leon with a couple of friends. Getting there from Los Angeles was a pain in the butt considering it was a weekday and therefore traffic around the evening. Thankfully we were still able to get there early enough to visit the 7-Eleven down the block to stock up on snacks and drinks. There was a huge caravan of cars trying to access the parking lot which I didn't have a problem with considering it was free with a ticket purchase. I'm not sure how it works if you're trying to score tickets at the door. Once inside you better be careful if you're trying to pre-game. There are people keeping an eye on the parking lot making sure no one is drinking or loitering in general. Once inside depending on your seats you will have to walk a bit. The venue is pretty big and getting around will mean going uphill then downhill and climbing up and down stairs to get to your seat or to get food and beverages. Also since the venue is big if you get lousy seats you'll have a hard time making out any of the band. They seriously look like ants and I have 20/20 vision. I've seen King of Leon before in San Francisco at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium and it was a much better experience and I think it was because of the seats. On the plus side since it was summer the fact that it is an open venue made it very pleasant for me. I'm a pretty big guy so the colder the better. The girls on the other hand were thankful they brought their sweaters because they were getting chilly. So if you're trying to have a blast get some good seats or hope that they stream it on YouTube I think you'll have a better experience watching it at home with a good surround sound.
Outdoor fun in Orange County

Having grown up in Orange County, Verizon has always been in my backyard and as I would drive down the 405 I could see all the great lists of headliners on their marquee and always want to go. In my senior year of high school, I finally had a chance. Blink-182 was in town, and the event was too good to say no to. I splurged a lot of money to get a ticket. It was worth every penny. The atmosphere was incredible, blink was awesome and it was an all around great night. My favorite part was when travis was in this ball that they somehow spun and he played the drums while spinning around. awesome. hit this place up!!
two words: moshing. downhill.

If you're into amphitheatre shows, Verizon Wireless is right up there with the Gibson. Facilities are HUGE and there's a lot more walking to do to get around than at a normal venue, but that's par for the course. One nice thing about Verizon, though, is all the extra sitting room in the grass behind the stationary seats. This is all free seating (as in you can sit however you want, not that you don't have to pay), and it can definitely be a lot of fun for a smaller price. There are screens, so you can still see the action (about as much as from anywhere else in the back, honestly), but people are looser and it's just about the only place you can really interact aka mosh. Just be mindful of the fact that there's a slope! I've seen people eat it.

This is sorta the OC equivalent to the Hollywood Bowl. I actually graduated high school on the Verizon stage and have been to a gazillion concerts here (Ramones, Blondie, B-52s, Muse, Megadeth, Lollapalooza, Weenie Roast, Ministry, Beach Boys, etc.). Super fun summer venue where every seat is a good one. One downside: drinks (and food) are expensive so plan accordingly.
