The Glass House (Pomona, CA) Information

The Glass House is an intimate music venue twenty miles outside of LA in Pomona, CA. The venue is famous for hosting well-known indie, rock and punk acts and has attracted many top-tier alternative acts throughout the 90s and 2000s.

Housed in what used to be a Thrifty Drug store, The Glass House opened in downtown Pomona in 1996, with a two-night debut show by No Doubt. World-famous rock acts at The Glass House have included The Pixies, The White Stripes, and a variety of low-key alternative acts like Low and Modest Mouse.

Pomona’s downtown music club serves as a popular venue for both local LA bands and established club acts, which enjoy performing in front of the Glass House’s token friendly audience. With a capacity of 800, the venue is large enough to draw the big names but intimate enough to give the performance a personal and cozy feel. Performers at the venue often stop at the record store across the street to sign their newest releases on the shelves, to the delight of their LA-based fans.

Unlike many of the downtown LA venues, The Glass House welcomes all ages and tends to draw a lineup of bands that appeal to a variety of age groups. And with ticket prices between $12 and $20, it comes as no surprise that the venue is popular among younger fans.

Electra Keller Jan 16, 2013 3.0 stars Get Your Music Fix at The Glasshouse The Glasshouse is an all ages smaller music venue located in Pomona. They have featured some of the greatest up and coming band from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Trivium. If you're looking for a nice intimate venue but don't want to take that drive out to LA, I recommend The Glasshouse.
Alyssa Ryan Oct 7, 2012 3.0 stars Aquabats! The Glass House is so much fun! I love the smaller venues because they are so much more fun. You get closer, well you get shoved closer if you try but hey, its part of the atmosphere. If you don't want no part uh dat you can go to the second floor and watch from there.
Victor Hernández Sep 6, 2012 3.0 stars Worth The Drive Sometimes The Glass House is a the perfect music venue because no matter where you stand you always have a good view of the stage. Keep in mind that you are very likely to partake or be unwillingly thrown into a mosh pit if you are anywhere near the front center area of the floor. In fact there is a huge warning sign at the entrance telling you this. Of course it depend on the band you're seeing so if the band is punk or metal and you don't want to leave with bruises on your face, stand back or enjoy the show from the second floor. The second floor is perfect if you want a view of all the action and either a place to sit or a rail to lean on. It is next to the bathrooms though so there's some foot traffic passing by but I've never had any issues with smell. I usually am right smack in the pit for shows but I enjoyed seeing The Hives from the vantage point. It is definitely a different experience that I recommend at least once maybe a band you've seen many times and wont miss out by being away from the pit. One of the biggest downsides to The Glass House is that its an all ages venue that doesn't serve alcohol. Sorry they do have popcorn and skittles though if you're interested. Although they don't serve alcohol at The Glass House, Acerogami next door sure does. In fact in-between sets you'll see a part of the crowd leave The Glass House and walk over to Acerogami to enjoy a couple of drinks before walking back to see the next band, or in some cases the headline act. I've done this a couple times myself when being up front wasn't a necessity and it makes waiting for the main act not that much of a wait. There's also free parking in the parking lot next door and a handful of street parking nearby. I've never had issue with parking. I guess the only downside is the distance from Los Angeles :) I wish The Glass house was located somewhere in LA since they always have good bands playing there. Seriously follow them or subscribe to their newsletter you'll see what I'm talking about.
