Nokia Theatre Information

The Nokia Theatre is an entertainment venue situated at L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles. Opened in 2007, the theater has regularly hosted a number of events, such as live concerts, award shows, dance and comedy acts, and televised productions.

With a 7,100-person capacity, the Nokia Theatre currently hosts the Emmy Awards, People’s Choice Awards, American Music Awards, ESPY Awards, and the American Idol finale.

Past concerts at the Nokia Theatre have featured the Eagles, John Mayer, Lady Gaga, Duran Duran, and Jay-Z.

The theater has also served as the host of the X Games, the premier action sports event, which features athletes from skateboarding, motocross, BMX, and rally car racing.

Gerard Nash Gaw May 20, 2013 4.0 stars Incredibly Place to See a Concert Nokia is one of the best things to come to Los Angeles. I was there to see the American Idol Finale, and I would have to say that the theatre definitely helped to amplify the entire experience. I felt like I was right up there on stage, despite the enormous amount of people who attend the event. I even attended a concert with John Mayer which was absolutely phenomenal. The location is even convenient and the stadium's austere atmosphere improves the quality of the experience, despite the event. I would recommend this unforgettable experience to anyone.

Kristen Danhour May 15, 2013 4.0 stars Best Concert Venue in LA Although there are also concerts all the time at Staples Center, Nokia takes the prize. I love going to concerts whether with friends or family, it is always a great time. Nokia makes the concert going experience even more enjoyable. The venue is always clean, the staff always seems so friendly. The shows at Nokia are even more spectacular. The lights and sound are unbelievable. There is no bad seat in Nokia and the entertainers who come to perform are top notch. You will not be disappointed in seeing a show at Nokia. The experience you have here will be unforgettable and you will have the time of your life.

Sam Dorn Mar 1, 2013 3.0 stars Great place to see a concert Nokia is about the best place to see something in LA. I saw a reelection concert there for President Obama and the place was superb. Beautiful lighting and stage setups and the acoustics were amazing. The best part about Nokia, however, is that every single seat in the house provides you with a great view of the stage. Pricing of tickets, though it depends on the act, is usually very good, allowing students great access to the acts there. An added benefit is that Nokia located directly in LA Live, allowing you to visit the variety of eating establishments there, before or after (or both) your show.

Daniel B Dec 4, 2012 2.0 stars Mall-like venue The Nokia is about the most mainstream music venue in the city, so if that sounds like your cup of tea go wild. Located at LA Live, Downtown's answer to a generic shopping mall, this venue brings out some of the biggest names in commercial pop. Parking's a huge (and expensive) pain the butt but there are plenty of eating options. You could even go bowling or check out the resident DJ the show at Club Nokia. Nokia's smaller and more intimate than the Staples Center, but unfortunately, that doesn't make the sound quality much better. So unless you're dying to see your favorite radio hits lip-synched "live" in concert, check out the Greek, Wiltern, Troubadour, or just about anyplace else in LA.

Zoë Carvel Dec 3, 2012 4.0 stars Cool place Nokia Theatre is a great venue to see concerts for us common people and hosts to award events such as the Emmys, American Music Awards and others for the more talented and famous people. Even though the it holds 7,100 people, it feels so much smaller and intimate. I was afraid that my seat would be too far back, but it doesn’t matter where you sit because the view and the sound are good everywhere. Nokia is in a great location downtown at L.A. Live with convenient parking and lots of great restaurants to eat at before and after a show. As a USC student, I’m so lucky to have such a great venue so close to school.

Mareika Vandeveer Nov 28, 2012 2.0 stars Great venue, awful sound. Nokia theatre is in a great location in downtown LA, and the venue consistently has great shows. I’ve been to a fair few number of shows there, and I must say that I really enjoy the venue. Its very spacious (which can be hard to come by in LA), and features two large bars both upstairs and downstairs that drastically cut down on drink waiting time so you can actually enjoy the show you’re there to see, and have space to dance to the music. However, I just can’t look past the fact that the sound quality was absolutely terrible. The levels were totally off, and there was a huge echo that made hearing any clean sound pretty impossible. Most notably, I saw Simian Mobile Disco’s live show there, which is entirely based on the unique sounds they create and put together on stage. Needless to say, the sound system just couldn’t support their music and it kind of ruined the show.

Kimberly Ostiller Nov 26, 2012 4.0 stars Great Venue, Great Location The Nokia Theater is a great new addition to Los Angeles. It really helped improve the image of Downtown and the Theater placed in LA Live are making Downtown a much more enjoyable, and fun, place to hang out. The theater itself is a great size. It is a much more intimate venue than its neighboring Staples Center, but still offers great shows and performances. Since it is a much smaller size, seriously every seat in the house is a good one. When you buy a ticket to a show, don't be discouraged if you think your seat will be too far away, because there is great visibility to the stage and the acoustics are great--you can hear everything! I would definitely suggest you stop by one of the great restaurants at LA Live before or after heading over to Nokia. Katsuya is one of my favorites, but Yard House and Wolfgang Puck's restaurants are delicious, too!

Eleni Sehremelis Nov 25, 2012 4.0 stars AMAs! I went to the Nokia theater for the AMAs last year and it was so fun! Before going to the AMAs we went to Yard House to eat, which is right next to the Nokia Theater. It is in such a convenient location because there are so many restaurants and parking is great! We parked in the parking structure right outside of Yard House and it was super easy! However, the area tends to get really crowded since it is right next to the Staples Center, so I recommend getting to the concert as early as you can. The theater is not huge and the sound quality is great! Compared to other locations such as the Staples Center and Honda Center, the Nokia Theater is my favorite concert venue! I highly recommend the Nokia Theater. :)

Alexasacchini Nov 13, 2012 4.0 stars All Around Amazing!!!! I went to the Nokia theater for the first time a little over a month ago for a Train concert and it was AMAZING!!! It is right next door to the Staples Center and is surrounded by a string of unbelievable restaurants and bright lights and big screens- such an exciting location for any concert or other event!! The venue itself is pretty small, especially when compared to the Staples Center next door, but it is almost better that way because it makes the concert/show more intimate! In really big venues it is possible to sort of get lost in the crowd but at the Nokia Theater all seats are relatively good! The food inside the Nokia theater is mediocre, fairly standard for concert venues, but as I said before there are amazing restaurants all around it outside. The parking is fairly easy because there are so many different options for relatively cheap ($15 for the night?). The quality of the venue is great and very clean and right across the street from the hotel the Luxe for those visiting from out of town! Going to an event at the Nokia Theater is more than memorable for not only the event itself, but experiencing LA live in the heart of Los Angeles!

Lexie Shah Nov 13, 2012 4.0 stars Fun concert atmosphere!! I went to the NIcki Minaj concert here and it was great! It's on the smaller side but it actually turns out great because there is no bad seat in the house!! The parking structure is very easy to self-park in and the theater is just up the elevator-not a far walk at all! Its located at LA Live which has a bunch of restaurants that you have easy access too- like Yard House & Katsuya. Remember to factor in traffic when you’re coming from somewhere outside of LA because depending on the time, it can take a while to get around. The theater is really nice and you won’t be disappointed at whichever concert you choose!

Live entertainment complex in downtown Los Angeles, the Nokia theatre is a concert hall that plays host to well known music artists as well as award shows. With only 7,100 seats in the auditorium the theatre is not as huge as some concert halls, but the seats are designed in a way to provide an amazing show from wherever you are sitting. The sound quality at the venue is excellent and everything is kept very clean. Parking is conveniently located nearby with the option to self-park or valet your car. The only downside is that the food and drink options are a bit pricey, but nothing out of the ordinary for L.A
