The Chain Reaction: Face Lift Much Needed
Electra K. Jan 16, 2013
The Chain Reaction is a great place to discover new music, specifically in the punk and hardcore scene. The intimate venue is in a perfect location however the place itself looks super run down. I understand the nature of punk music is to have that gritty look but I have been to other punk venues that were much nicer looking and still had that grungy feel to it. If the Chain Reaction were to fix the place up a bit more, I would definitely want to go back much sooner.
Intimate Setting

The Chain Reaction is an all-ages, local venue that offers a more intimate setting to experience performances by rising bands. Most of the bands that play here are of the punk, hardcore, and metal genres and since it is such a small venue you'll definitely get a chance to meet and hang with the musicians. Who doesn't want that?
Not the best...

Over the years I've had quite a few interactions with Chain Reaction- from friend's bands and their opening acts to other shows with big name bands. While the music has been great, the actual venue is pretty grody. With a relatively raunchy crowd (not totally dependent upon who's performing), the venue seems even dirtier than it actually is. Bartenders always seem irritated and service is pretty slow. Dressing to this venue can really go anywhere between completely casual to a little more bar/club dressy. Most people look on the more alternative side and the place definitely has an eclectic vibe. Not my favorite but definitely not the worst.
Small Intimate Venue!

This place reminds me of the local venues that I went to in high school on Long Island. The walls are covered with band t-shirts, they serve candy and soda (no alcohol), and the venue is located in a shopping center in orange county. Great venue to see a band up close and personal. Caught many shows here (Bayside, PInhead Gunpowder, etc.) and it's a friendly atmosphere!
