Though the in-crowd may have moved on, the Hotel Mondrian’s elegant Skybar still offers jet-setters and affluent internationals a sexy playground both day and night.

Those wealthy or attractive enough to slip through the discreet white door on Sunset Boulevard will want to stop by for the afternoon pool scene, where hard-bodied guys laze on white lounge chairs, peering through designer sunglasses at the beautiful girls in bikinis and heels strolling by with their cocktails or swaying to the DJ’s beats.

Once the stars come out, fashionable social butterflies, business types, and hotel guests flock to the bar in the open hut, whose teak wood flooring, ivy-covered walls, and high white-draped windows overlooking the twinkling LA skyline create an airy and luxurious atmosphere.

Leggy model-types and their admirers lounge on plush yellow and gold banquettes and oversized ottomans to chat and flirt, or take to the dance floor when the DJ turns up the volume on the Top 40 and hip-hop.

Romancers can slip down a level to the illuminated pool to take in the incredible nighttime panorama, or go one level lower to the garden-like area, where more cushioned seats among the trees offer a place to get close with a bit more privacy

Definitely not for those on a budget, Skybar is nonetheless an excellent place to splurge on a night out for chic patrons who want to feel like they’re on top of the world.

Tip from Adriana:

You have to be on the guest list to get into Skybar on most nights, so other than springing for bottle service, the best way to get in the door is to make a request by phone or e-mail – just see the website for info. Then again, you could always book a hotel room for a more scandalous evening…

Soak up the sun in style!

Located at the celebrity ridden Mondrian Hotel, Skybar is the epitome of luxurious pool party. If you visit on a sunny LA day you can guarantee a fabulous time here. The pool is situated right off Sunset Boulevard where it overlooks the entire city of LA. The pool deck area is large, so it’s comfortable to lay out and soak up the rays, opposed to some other LA pools where everyone is smashed together in a club-like atmosphere. The best part of the pool is the actual “Sky Bar” which almost feels like a giant, tree-house type of cabana. It’s located up a small flight of stairs and sits overlooking the entire pool and deck area. In the “Sky Bar” there is a large bar and tables with bottle service for those who would rather be in the shade (the sky bar area is covered). This venue does a great job of playing music at a good level where it’s not too loud to enjoy a good conversation with the friend next to you. Be aware that this is a more upscale, trendy pool so there will be lots of women wearing heals and fancy cover-ups, so come wearing your best!
The Sky is the Limit

Hotel Mondrian’s elegant Skybar is a sophisticated and trendy venue located on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. An affluent ambiance to enjoy conversations, professional business, or simply laying out under the sun. This exclusive modern venue is not just for anyone, but for those that plan to go big and not to go home. Wealthy, attractive, and hotel guest enter the private white doors of the venue day and night. Both, fashionable and attractive men and women resting on comfortable white chairs along the garden-like poolside patio. Handsome hot-bodied men and beautiful ladies wearing bikinis, while sun bathing and enjoying the LA weather. And speaking of an intimate setting: At night the venue is lit up with white candles and dim lights creating an intimate and relaxed setting. The gorgeous modern designs of white sheer curtains conceal the windows inside the lounge along with cozy white and gold couches. Faint hip-hop and pop music is played while allowing people to talk to each other pleasantly. Skybar is an upscale and expensive atmosphere. If you’re feeling VIP try Skybar.
The scene with a scene

Whether you are a frequent member of high-end hangouts, or are a little less familiar with the scene and would like to see what LA's all about, Skybar will not disappoint. Surpass the famed white door into a sexy atmosphere embodied by the club's own patrons, who are sure to be sporting their Saturday night best, even if it's Monday. Everything from today's top beats to the hottest hip hop keeping the vibe young and fun, you and your friends won't be able to resist hitting the dance floor to party with the city's most prosperous professionals. Or, if it's one of LA's balmy summer nights, head poolside to lounge on Skybar's cushy white mattresses. The scene inside may appear a bit 'Hollywood', but the club's unmatched view of the city will remind you why everyone flocks there in the first place. Sure, it's pricey, but play your cards right, and you could parlay your way onto a gentlemanly jetsetter's tab.
Sexy, Sassy SKY!

This bar oozes with young professionals who are out to have a good night! The rooftop has stunning views and a sophisticated layout. Be careful to be charged a $20 cover on a busy weekend night. Just be sure to wear your finest and you will be fine. Went for my 30th and had an absolute blast. Prices are a bit steep but we are in LA after all. If you are into Martinis, the Lemon Drop with Sky vodka will leave you breathless. Have fun and enjoy the Sexiness and Sassiness of SKY bar!
Girls night out

High Society

PSY, Mitt Romney, and Leeloo from The Fifth Element, walk into a bar. That's not the start of a joke but just Skybar on Halloween night. Elegant, affluent, attractive, sexy -- all accurate descriptions of the kind of patrons that you'll witness at this must-see venue. If you're looking to save money or you're just not a big spender, then this is not the place for you to step foot in. But if you want to splurge every so often, mix with Hollywood wannabes and just have fun, then it's the perfect place for you and your friends. It does resemble a stereotypical Hollywood bar with expensive drinks and imitating bouncers but once you enter, the view of Los Angeles is breathtaking and the pool is equally stunning. Going with a large group of friends is the best recommendation but it's also a great place to meet and mingle with perfect strangers.
Always Fun

Skybar is the most fun and hassle-free when you're with the girls, dressed up for a night on the town. If you've never been, get the cab to drop you off at the nondescript door on the right end of the driveway. Press a buzzer and the bouncer will answer the door. If you are with the girls and dressed appropriately, you shouldn't have an issue getting in. Once you are inside, I don't care how regularly you go (or if you think this place isn't what it used to be), take a moment to acknowledge the view. It's one of the sickest views that's open to the public in LA. On a good night, the crowd at Skybar can start out a bit too cool for school, but generally ends in a hot sweaty mess - in a good way. The music is good, and some of my fondest memories are dancing with new friends, singing to classics like The Joker in between the usual Top 40. If it's a really good night, people will end up in the pool. Be prepared for the classic (semi-tired) LA scene of out of town moneyed guys flirting with girls half their age. And hope that you're one of those girls - drinks here are expensive.
