A trendy, hilly neighborhood, Los Feliz has seen a huge ingress of hipsters, creative types, and urban professionals over the past couple of decades.

Daytime provides the perfect opportunity to explore the rough, brush-covered mountain paths of the enormous Griffith Park – one of the largest parks in North America – or to take in the breathtaking city view from the Griffith Park Observatory, notable as one of the key locations from Rebel Without a Cause.

In the mid-90s, cult classic Swingers put Los Feliz nightlife on the map by featuring several neighborhood bars and restaurants, ushering in a new kind of “cool” to the eastside L.A. scene.

The artistic and rather refined area along Hillhurst and Vermont avenues offers fashionable wine bars, hip restaurants, and ancient dives that attract older, alternative professionals.

The younger, hard-drinking set tends to head a bit farther east to Atwater Village and the ironic theme bars lining Los Feliz Boulevard, which draw a wide mix of crunchy flannel-wearing types, grizzled older regulars, and edgy dive-lovers.
