Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival Film Festival Every year in May

Every May in Los Angeles, thousands of Asian Americans and cinephiles from around the world head to the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival was established in 1983 by Visual Communications, one of America’s biggest Asian Pacific American media arts centers, in order to promote Asian and Asian Pacific American film.

The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival annually screens short films, feature-length narratives, and feature-length documentary films by local and international Asian producers, writers, and directors at various locations throughout Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival awards the best emerging talent with various awards. Past winners include David Boyle, Mark Tran, and Christopher Wong, while past featured films include 3 Puffs of Gold, Dreams for Sale, and Advantageous.

In addition to screenings, the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival boasts seminars, panel discussions, and symposiums on relevant Asian film topics, hosted by established Asian filmmakers.
