Hungarian Film Festival of Los Angeles Description

Hungarian Film Festival of Los Angeles - Film Festival | Screening in Los Angeles.

Hungarians have a history of churning out cultural giants like Béla Bartók, Harry Houdini, and Zsa Zsa Gabor. And when it comes to movies, Hungarians have contributed award-winning feature films, directors, writers, and actors in every genre. Since Béla Zitkovszky’s A Táncz in 1901 (the first Hungarian film in history), Hungarian films have grown to attract fans from all over the world. In celebration of the best in Hungarian cinema, the Hungarian Film Festival of Los Angeles offers a week of screenings in November.

Each year, the Hungarian Film Festival of Los Angeles is hosted at the Laemmle NOHO 7 in North Hollywood and is organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of Hungary in Los Angeles and the Magyar Filmunió (Hungarian Film Union). Screenings at the festival have included notable works like Just the Wind by Bence Fliegauf, which was a Hungarian entry for the Academy Awards. Other featured films have included Academy Award-winner Istvan Szabo’s The Door with Helen Mirren and The Tragedy of Man by Jankovics Marcell, which was a winner of the Cannes Palme D’Or.

Tickets to the Hungarian Film Festival of Los Angeles cost around $10 per screening. After discovering some new favorite films, stop by the historic bars in Burbank and Hollywood where movie magic and industry negotiations have been going on for over a century.
