Eagle Rock is one of LA’s up-and-coming artistic neighborhoods. Home to young artists looking to escape high rent costs while staying close to the city’s exploding art scene, this creative community has hosted the annual Eagle Rock Music Festival since 1999. On the first Saturday in October, Colorado Boulevard between Argus Drive and Eagle Rock Boulevard kicks out the cars and transforms into the sprawling site of the 2012 Eagle Rock Music Festival.
Past performers at the Eagle Rock Music Festival include indie icons like Health, Rooney, Gaslamp Killer, and local music god Flying Lotus. While the festival’s focus is on local indie music, it also features food trucks, square dancing, and 11 stages featuring genres ranging from folk to EDM.
The 2012 Eagle Rock Music Festival requests a $10 donation and proceeds from the festival go to supporting local arts in the community. A $20 donation gets you extra karma and includes a commemorative festival shirt. There’s no requested donation for kids under 14 and there’s even a family music stage, so the 2012 Eagle Rock Music Festival also makes for a great family outing. In-between sets, walk the length of the festival and pop into the local restaurants that line the street to sample their drinks.
