It's summertime here in Los Angeles, the season of fun, sun, and music. It's enough to keep up with the musical movement during the rest of the year, but summertime offers a huge lineup of artists at little to no expense. The time to take advantage of emerging and local artists is now, and Levitt Pavillion's summer concert series offer a diverse blend of music to whet any music devotee's appetite. The stage is intimate, yet expansive enough to fit a sprawling audience. The sound setup is excellent, and at such a volume as to draw in lucky passerbys. My first trip to the concert series was for Nosaj Thing, whose one man setup delivered his infamous trip hop beats to a crowd of kids who looked like they probably wouldn't be normally allowed into Low End on a Wednesday night with their 18+ age restriction. Needless to say, it was a chill mob of adolescence that hovered close to the stage, bringing the environment to a rare and up close and personal viewing of Nosaj Thing, LA local and pioneer in the trip hop/chillwave musical scene. The scenery was low key and relaxed enough for the usually tight lipped and composed Nosaj to admit that he was faded. The on-site Jarritos Truck afterwards provided free drinks and a pinata thrashing session that was a flurry of hormones, sugar, and summer sweat.

This sounds like a lot of fun, I read about Levitt Pavillion's mission to bring free music to communities. I think it's great, I just wish there was a little more information on each of the bands set to play. Are there any events also combined with the music like competitions or games? It could be a really great way to meet people with same interests and enjoy great music as the same time. Once I'm in LA I definitely plan to attend one of these. Where do you park?!
