The Scene

One of the shinier and more exclusive venues in town, MyStudio is an opulent work of art in itself, with enough copper and gold details to merit its status as a gathering place for its decked out clientele.

Young models in training and actors with enough dough and good looks to get past the door will find a darkly sparkling wonderland of gold metal walls, studded leather, and enough architectural details to dazzle them for hours.

Those more interested in their fellow patrons and cocktails, however, will also find plenty to do, starting with bottle service in one of the many cozy booths or in the swanky elevated Library area, where a baby grand piano and backlit shelves filled with vintage photography manuals create a particularly luxurious atmosphere for the Hollywood hotshots and arm candy lazing on the velvet sofas.

A marble bar seductively lit by an incredible glass ball chandelier is the center of attention in the main lounge, at least until the DJ starts spinning techno and trance loud enough to whip the upscale hordes into an uninhibited frenzy that turns even the expensive leather booths into impromptu dance platforms.

Smokers can sneak to the back lounge, whose open slanted ceiling provides fresh air for the beautiful people lined up at the second bar or lingering over bubbly at the more intimate champagne bar.

Lush and decadent, MyStudio is a don’t-miss destination for stylish hard partiers who like the décor to be as striking as the crowd.

The best spot to get down to Rihanna and Jay-Z is right by the baby grand. There are some gold-studded booths nearby that are perfect to hop on and shake it.

Have a Party

I am huge fan of architecture so I immediately fell in love with the interior of this venue. Gold walls and studs catch your eye right when you walk in and dazzle you around every corner. I saw three separate celebrities while I was here in a matter of three hours. MyStudio is the perfect place to throw a party for a special event. Bring a group of your girl friends and be prepared to get hit on by countless men looking for a good time. If you are not down for a continuous bond then this probably is not the place for you.
A lot fancier than your average studio

I came here with some friends on St. Patrick's day since I hadn't gone to this particular club yet. The one factor that made this night both great and not-so-great was the weather: it was cold and rainy that night. So from the outset, our clubbing spirits were sort of dampened (pun intended). We managed to get a deal with a promoter so the girls were on the VIP list and the guys were on the normal guest list. The guy managing the VIP list also gave us free drink tickets. The guest list line wasn't too much longer but the guys did have to pay $15. The doors open at 10:30 and not a moment sooner. Parking: there is a private lot right behind My Studio, but they charge $20. If you don't mind a slightly longer walk, there is a garage one street west on Cherokee which is $12 flat for the night. Otherwise, you can try to find street parking if you feel lucky. The drinks: They were pricey, but what do you expect from a trendy LA club? A gin tonic and a jack 'n coke cost me about $25. They didn't taste that strong either. But there are plenty of tables lining the sides of the dance floor to mooch off of if you have some cute girl friends who don't mind asking for free drinks. The interior is very nice; I liked the lighting and the whole atmosphere of the place. Some of the walls have shelves of books, which gives the place a more refined lounge-like feel. When you enter, you will see the main dance floor with a DJ booth in the center. Behind the DJ is the main bar with marble counters and a huge glass-ball chandelier looming above it. VIP tables with luxurious black sofas and tables well stocked with glasses, alcohol and mixers surround the dance floor. Further back past the main bar is another room with an additional bar and more room for casual mingling and chitchat when you want to take a break from dancing. Because it was raining, My Studio wasn't as packed as it probably would've been if the weather had been pleasant. So we had room to dance without feeling like canned sardines. The music was pretty solid but nothing spectacular. The crowd is predominantly Asian with a good percentage being native speakers of another language. The last time I overheard so much Japanese was back at a college clubbing event for the Japanese Students Association! It's a chill club with cool decor but the dance floor is one of the smallest I've seen at any club. If it weren't for the miserable weather, we would've been up to our metaphorical balls with people elbowing our sides and stepping on our feet (both of which happened anyways). If you are in the mood to dance, there are other clubs in LA more spacious than this one like Belasco, Icon and LA Exchange.

If you out and about on Hollywood Boulevard on a weekend night, My Studio is worth checking out. The prices for a drink are decent and the music is a nice blend ranging from what's popular today to some really hot dance tracks. The girls are really sexy here as well. There is also a place to smoke in the club as well which is a plus. Overall My Studio is definitely a nice place to check out if you are into the Hollywood nightlife!
