Jon Lovitz Comedy Club: “Haha ‘Funny’ or Haha ‘Awkward’?””

One of my good friends is a stand-up comedian, so I have been to a good amount of comedy clubs and shows. I don’t usually, however, go to a comedy show unless I know who is performing. Well, a few weeks ago, I decided to go to Jon Lovitz’ Comedy Club at Universal City Walk with a few friends, not knowing who or what to expect. We walked in to find a sparsely-populated, three-level club. The audience consisted of my friends and me, drunk walk-ins from Howl at the Moon next door, a table of supporters for one of the comics, and then the comics themselves. It was a Thursday night, but it was a pretty sorry showing. The comics themselves were exactly what you would expect. Some were hilarious, and others left a lot to be desired. The food was mediocre, and the drinks were weak. I hope that this club attracts more of a crowd on weekends. But, you know it’s pretty bad when the running joke among all of the comedians is how awful of a venue and a show it is. :-/
