Aug 2, 2012 — Los Angeles averages over 300 sunny days a year, and thanks to our increasing temperatures, that number is only rising. But the city is also a concrete jungle with a lack of space available. So when it comes to taking advantage of the weather, it’s only natural for Angelenos to utilize any unused outdoor surfaces and just start putting things up on roofs – gardens, solar panels, but most importantly, bars.
The rooftop is the best thing to happen to bars since they stopped playing Journey at closing time (wait, they still do that. We must have been daydreaming). The point is, never again do you have to have your pristine sunset views obscured by ugly buildings, deal with a skyscraper blocking your rays, or be bothered by the sounds of passing cars – the same can’t be said about jets.
Some of the best features of LA’s rooftops are when lavish pools accompany the bars, giving “high” class a new meaning as the scene gets taken to a whole other level. In the glitz and glamour that is Los Angeles, it’s more normal than not to exit the elevator on the top floor to find stunning patrons lying out to bronze and DJs spinning for massive parties – all while popping caps of champagne onto the streets below.
But if you don’t want to deal with velvet rope fifty-stories off the ground, the city also offers rowdy haunts and laid-back watering-holes where the only thing that’s sky high is you.
The beautiful weather and UV-addicted population means that LA has a glut of bars above the streets, but we at Party Earth found the ones that rise above the rest, and where your drink always comes with a view.
