Hollywood, Los Angeles –
Located across the street from Paramount Studios, Pour Vous is an intimate getaway for upscale professionals and trendy socialites looking for some flavor of Paris in Hollywood.
Entering through the nondescript façade is like stepping onto the movie set for Moulin Rouge, right down to the vintage display case full of apothecary bric-a-brac that lines the narrow front hallway.
Once past the thick blue velvet curtains, thirsty guests head straight for the bar to sample one of two dozen specialty cocktails, while romantic couples make their way to the lower lounge where a fireplace crackles below a stained-glass rotunda.
An upper level just behind the resident (and usually model-esque) DJ offers small groups a chance to chill around marble tables, each dressed with a single rose.
Despite being quite small, an outdoor patio in back may be the pièce de résistance, where trendy Hollywoodies grab a smoke in a full-on converted train trolley as they gab over small plates of chocolate and French cheese.
Though the venue is far from a club, the DJ’s dance-friendly mixes often engender pockets of grooving, and on the off-chance the cocktails and champagne don’t entice, a converted antique espresso machine behind the bar serves as the beer tap.
For a night of sophistication and style, Pour Vous is a très bon spot to impress a date or just take pleasure in the finer things in (night)life.
Celebrities, upscale professionals, Hollywood movers and shakers, and trendy groups of friends, late 20s to early 40s.
Live gypsy jazz band on Tuesdays.
DJ spins a mix of Euro house, 70s–90s danceable pop, old school disco, and some Top 40 depending on the DJ.
In-house playlist includes modern but relaxed Nu Disco, funk, house, French classics, and some big band music.
Burlesque shows Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Selection of small plates including fine chocolates and French cheeses, as well as oysters.
Oysters $2/each or $20/dozen, chocolates and cheese plates $12. Beer $6–$12, wine $9–$14, cocktails $10–$16, spirits $8+.
Cocktail attire: button-downs, stylish shirts, blazers, slick dresses, vintage wear, sexy-but-not-too-sexy skirts.
Dress code: No sandals, shorts, athletic attire, baseball caps, or beanies allowed. T-shirts permitted if worn under a blazer of jacket.
Venue is consistently busy with a classy crowd every night, though earlier in the week usually offers a slightly relaxed door. Fridays and Saturdays promise a roomful of sophisticated socialites. Thursdays for the burlesque.
Osteria La Buca (5210 Melrose Avenue) is a cozy restaurant that takes patrons on an upscale trip to Italy before they head to Paris at Pour Vous.
