Apollo Victoria Theatre Information

West End spot the Apollo Victoria Theatre started its life as a movie theater but is now one of London’s major musical venues. Long-running shows continually sell out performances here. Built in 1929, the Apollo Victoria has the streamlined Art Deco look of the era. Inside, a crowd of 2,208 can sit on two levels: the stalls and the dress circle. As one of the largest theaters in the West End, it has hosted big-name musicals like Fiddler on the Roof and The Sound of Music since the 1980s. The theater’s current tenant, Wicked, plays most evenings and matinees twice a week.

Same-day tickets for shows at the Apollo Victoria Theatre are sometimes available at deep discounts from the box office. Each level has two bars and food vendors, and opera glasses are available for a small rental fee. No cameras or recording equipment are to be used in the auditorium. This historic venue is not air-conditioned, but it is accessible to those with disabilities.

Natalie Basque Apr 9, 2013 3.0 stars Watched Wicked Loved this place! I went with a friend who was visiting and saw Wicked. It was a great show at a great venue. They had comfortable seats and I had a wonderful view of the stage. My favorite part was the candy stand and popcorn!
Jody Pollara Dec 6, 2012 4.0 stars Just saw Wicked here! I have been to London several times but my most recent trip was for my anniversary. My husband and I went to see Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre and it was amazing! As a kid, I used to go to New York a lot with my mom and see Broadway and off-Broadway shows. The experience here was very similar, just a lot more British!! The show itself was incredible and the theater was beautiful. To get to the theater itself, you have to walk downstairs. The upstairs lobby has a big bar/concession stand in the center and the theater downstairs has a few bars. You can actually get ice cream during the intermission! Everything is pretty expensive, even by London standards, but that is to be expected. Going to the theater is an expensive night out, but it is totally worth it.
