Home to association football club Fulham F.C. since 1896, Craven Cottage is located along the Thames next to Bishop’s Park. A capacity of 25,700 often fills the stadium to the brim, cheering on the Whites in matches against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.
There was indeed a Craven Cottage on the grounds, built in 1780 and destroyed by fire in 1888. The Fulham club took over the former hunting grounds soon after. Though the stadium has gone through many modernizations and additions, original parts still stand.
More vocal fans tend to cluster at the northernmost stand, Hammersmith End. The other stands are the southernmost Putney End; the Riverside Stand, which backs up to the Thames and often sees the rich and famous among its hospitality suites; and the vintage — dating from 1905 — Johnny Haynes Stand.
Due to the stadium’s design, several seats throughout are designated as restricted-view and are available at a discount rate. People not seated in designated “away” or “neutral” zones (all located in the Putney End Stand) are not permitted to wear replica gear representing the visiting team. Food and drink are available for purchase, though alcohol cannot be consumed in sight of the football pitch – this includes all seating areas during Fulham F.C. matches at Craven Cottage.
