England’s men’s national football team is part of the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) confederation and plays at Wembley Stadium in London. The stadium was completed in 2007 and holds up to 90,000 fans for English matches. The team first started kicking the ball around in 1872, making it the oldest national football club in the world alongside Scotland. The team competes within UEFA, FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) events, and smaller friendlies and tournaments. The Three Lions won the 1966 World Cup title, but have had varied results since. Some of the more notable English players have included Wayne Rooney, Kevin Keegan, and Sir Bobby Charlton.
