Doggett's Coat and Badge Description

July is a very hot month in London, sometimes so hot that people might want to jump into the Thames. Instead of jumping in, revelers watch the fun, competitive, and historic Doggett's Coat and Badge rowing race. The Doggett's Coat and Badge is the oldest rowing race in the world and goes under 11 bridges.

The 2013 Doggett's Coat and Badge is 7,400 meter course that is held between the London Bridge and Cadogan Pier, which are the former sites of the Old Swan Tavern and the Swan Inn Chelsea. Watermen are between 21 and 25-years-old. The Doggett's Coat and Badge winner receives a crimson red coat with a silver arm badge.

The 2013 Doggett's Coat and Badge is free to watch. Make sure to line up along the race route early enough to get a good spot!
