Lord Mayor's Show Description

Lord Mayor's Show - Holiday Event | Parade in London.

The Lord Mayor’s Show is one of the most well known annual events in London, dating all the way back to 1215. Every November, as a new Lord Mayor is inaugurated, the city celebrates with a three-mile-long street parade.

The procession begins at Guildhall at 11am and ends around 2:30pm; the route includes stops at St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Royal Courts of Justice in Westminster, and the London School of Economics.

As the procession for the Lord Mayor’s Show winds through the heart of London, viewers can expect to see huge floats with more than 6,500 people, in addition to marching bands, horses, carriages, and a Japanese Taiko drum band.

The show is free to watch, with more than half a million spectators in attendance each year. However, grandstand seats for the Lord Mayor’s Show are available for £35.

All the surrounding roads are closed, so visitors are encouraged to bike, walk, or take the tube.
