Known as much for its whiskey selection as for its motley crew of devoted customers, Filthy MacNasty’s enjoys a certain local mystique and projects an artsy charm.
With a low-key style all its own, the small, dark pub is decidedly scruffy, eschewing the typical rich wood paneling of other English pubs in favor of walls covered with a revolving gallery of original art that is available for purchase.
Filthy’s is a true neighborhood pub where the bar and its colorful hipster patrons – including locals of some renown – often supply the entertainment themselves, though the venue does host weekly dinner specials, poetry readings, and movie nights that draw aspiring artists young and old, further inspired by a few glasses of single malt.
As bohemian and gritty as its surrounding streets, Filthy MacNasty’s gathers the good, the bad, and the ugly to create an eclectic and intriguing atmosphere every night.
Mostly regulars and creative types, mid-20s to 40s, but Filthy’s has earned quite a reputation and now attracts visitors from all over the city.
Live music throughout the week. Events include book launches, poetry readings, jam sessions, and poster exhibits. Check the website for the schedule.
