The Coronet Theatre Information

The Coronet Theatre is located on New Kent Road, just a few short steps from the Elephant and Castle tube station.

Originally conceived of as a public hall the Victorian, Art Deco Coronet Theatre was built in 1892. A fire in 1878 lead to renovations completed by Frank Hatcham who was also responsible for such well-known London venues as, the Hackney Empire, the Hippodrome, and the Coliseum. A young Charlie Chaplin was an early performer at the Coronet Theatre.

Recent performances at the Coronet Theatre have included, Alicia Keys, Groove Armada, LCD Soundsystem, The Wombats, and Placebo.

The Coronet Theatre, with its all-week late license, large smoking area, top quality P.A. system, and state of the art lighting, is also a venue for boxing matches, burlesque balls, arts and cultural festivals, fashion shows, award ceremonies, and charity dance-a-thons.

Capacity at the Coronet Theatre is 2,600.
