Leicester Square Theatre Information

Leicester Square Theatre - Concert Venue | Theater in London.

Since its opening in 1953, the Leicester Square Theatre building has hosted everything from a French cultural center to a punk-music venue, but it is currently devoted to theater and comedy acts. Performances at the Leicester Square Theatre, since it debuted in 2008, have included Joan Rivers’ autobiographical show, comedic plays, solo shows, comedians, concerts, and musicals – the Boy George musical Taboo made its world premiere here.

Located in Westminster, London, the Leicester Square Theatre is comprised of a main house, which seats 400 people in a traditional auditorium setting, and the basement Lounge Theatre, an intimate cabaret-style space for 70. The main house has two full-service bars, while the Lounge has one.

Bookings are handled through the box office or the theater’s website.

Leicester Square Theatre User Reviews

Average rating:
Top comedy, intimate venue
Andrew T. Jan 27, 2013
Nestled below a church at one edge of Leicester Square, this theatre is smack bang in the middle of the action in London's West End. Seating four hundred, it's big enough to feel vibrant when acts are on, yet small enough to have a real intimacy about it too. Whilst not exclusively a comedy venue, much of the Leicester Square Theatre's programme is stand-up and sketch comedy. At any time of year, you'll be able to find established and up-coming comedy circuit acts alongside the odd big name. It's a venue that's much loved by the performers themselves, which means that favourites such as Bill Bailey, Sean Lock and Michael Mcintyre have all road tested material here. Alongside the comedy, you'll also find cabaret, theatre and music. Below the main auditorium is the lounge; a sixty seater space that plays host to new acts and a range of other interesting shows. The drinks may be a touch on the expensive side, but that's to be expected in this location. If it's atmosphere, top entertainment and heaps of laughs for your money that you're after, then you can't go far wrong with catching a comedy show at the Leicester Square Theatre.
