Part of the Royal Pavilion Estate in Brighton, the Brighton Dome consists of three venues connected via underground tunnels to the rest of the complex – the Brighton Museum and the Royal Pavilion in Pavilion Gardens. The complex was built in 1805 for George IV.
With an Indian-inspired exterior and Art Deco interior, the Brighton Dome includes the Concert Hall, Corn Exchange, and Pavilion Theatre. All three venues host a variety of performing arts, including theater, dance, and music. The Concert Hall has seen important events in popular music, such as ABBA’s Eurovision Song Contest win in 1974 and Pink Floyd’s first performance of “Dark Side of the Moon”. These days, the likes of Beyonce play to a crowd of 1,742.
The Corn Exchange is an ornate space that holds smaller performances for an audience of 800. Low-key theater, dance, and comedy acts can perform for an audience of 232 in the Pavilion Theater. Bars are located throughout the venues. The Brighton Dome is also a venue during the annual Brighton Festival in May.
