Covent Garden / Soho, London –
Party seekers who are both thirsty and thrifty would do well to stop by Thirst, a snug but chic Soho lounge where the too-good-to-pass-up drink specials explain the continuous crush at the bar.
Home to some of London’s hardest-working bartenders, the venue features an expansive cocktail list in book form that draws a loyal following of media types ready for some after-work unwinding among a friendly crowd.
Patrons tend to come early to snag a spot on one of the leather banquettes in the minimalist, honey-brown upstairs lounge, and then head downstairs to the dance floor later on.
While the daily Stupid Hour attracts plenty of bargain hunters and sunny days mean revelers spill onto the sidewalk to sip daiquiris, the real action at Thirst begins after nightfall when DJs start spinning a soulful mix of house, electro, and funk that keeps the tightly-packed crowd happy on the dance floor into the wee hours.
Mixed after-work crowd during Stupid Hour, slightly swankier group later on, mostly 20s and 30s.
Mellow ambient music in the early evenings, house music spun by DJs later on.
Stupid Hour daily 5–7:30pm.
Cover charge £3–£5 after 10pm. Beer £3+, wine £4+, cocktails £6.50+, shots £3–£4.30.
Smart casual.
Any evening during Stupid Hour for bargain drinks, or late Fridays and Saturdays for a more raucous club experience.
