The Jazz Café, founded in December of 1990, is a music venue in Camden Town, London with a seating capacity of 350. Though the venue originally played live jazz music seven nights a week, its name is now a bit misleading - when Mean Fiddler acquired the venue in 1992 it was converted into a jazz, soul, funk, world, dance and hip hop venue. In 2008, Mama Group purchased the venue and since then, the jazz aspect of the club has been mostly phased out. Events at The Jazz Café now consist of primarily hip-hop music and a bit of soul.

Shows at The Jazz Café may also be viewed from The Jazz Café’s restaurant, which can be found on the first floor balcony, looking out onto the stage.

Anthony Weightman Apr 22, 2013 4.0 stars Z-STAR Live @ The Jazz Café Camden Winner of the Best Live Act 2010 at the Brighton Music Awards, Z-Star (Michelle Z Nichol) is unique and charismatic as an international singer-songwriter, producer and poet. Her admiring followers include Nigel Kennedy, Terry Callier, Keziah Jones and Mauro Pagani. Her latest album Masochists and Martyrs is evidence of her musical brilliance and creativity. It showcases 12 excellent tracks recorded at a sixties studio in Rome. This exciting and compelling music is released on her own label, Muthastar. Her fellow musicians are extraordinarily talented and powerfully driven through her musical direction and production. The line up is: Diogenes Baptistella (lead guitar), Vezio Bacci (bass), Nikolaj Bjerre (drums / sonics) and Carly Bryant (keys). She gave a haunting and energetic version of the legendary Doors classic Light My Fire whilst Tree Of Life was intensely personal and a force of nature, to use Jimmy Page’s description of Zee. Jazz Café is a stylish club in north-west London, attracting top jazz, soul and hip-hop musicians from all over the world. The cafe provides an intimacy as the room is small and the audience is positioned just in front the podium. Get out, sing along your favourite tune and admire your star live on stage. Space is available for everyone to find a good spot and view. The dress code is quite casual, depending on how you feel you can dress up well as long as it looks appropriate for a night out.
