Party Earth Zenna Review

The Scene

Zenna in London’s Soho is a swanky lounge with incredibly exotic Indian cocktails & a pretty crowd. Try something new in London with Party Earth.

Basement bars abound in Soho, but Zenna is literally spicier than most considering its selection of Indian-inspired cocktails – including one drink so hot that patrons have to sign a waiver before drinking it.

Owned by the same folks behind swanky Indian restaurant The Red Fort upstairs, the venue is accessed through the restaurant’s main entrance and down a stairwell lined with bronze bowls filled with floating candles and flowers.

The otherworldly feel is enhanced with dark azure walls, exposed brick, and tunnel-shaped enclaves, while subdued lighting and low sofas give the space an atmosphere perfect for cozy romantic outings – at least early in the evening before the place fills up.

Bartenders are quick to whip up traditional classics, but the venue’s biggest selling point is its range of Indian-influenced libations, with drinks that feature chili, cardamom, saffron, coriander, and olfactory-enhancing bursts of sage.

The bar food has the sophistication to echo Fort’s reputation, with non-greasy snacks like soft shell crab and sharable platters of fish and vegetable kabob designed to complement the cocktails.

Classy professionals, couples, and savvy tourists usually start streaming in by 9pm on Fridays, though this South Asian underworld often doesn’t pick up till later, when fashionable pre-clubbers stumble down for an inebriating lassi or lychee martini to prime their late-night party.

An exotic Soho gem for patrons in need of something original in their glass, Zenna is a truly Delhi-icious find.

Tip from Jonah:

Zenna’s Illiana cocktail is said to be the spiciest cocktail in the world. You have to sign a waiver (and hand over fifteen quid) for the experience, but watching the in-depth preparation is fabulous. And don’t worry too much – it comes with a gin-laced chaser called the Fire Extinguisher.

  • Crowd

Trendy area professionals, savvy cocktail connoisseurs, dapper couples, fashionable pre- and post-club crowd, late 20s to late 30s.

  • Entertainment / Music

DJ on Fridays and Saturdays spins a culturally disjointed mix of 90s pop from 8pm.

Ambient house and trance other times.

  • Food / Miscellaneous

Selection of snacks and shareable platters made by Red Fort, including chutney, paneer tikka, kebabs, and crab.

  • Prices

Snacks £3–£10, canapé selections £20–£30, shareable platters £20–£24.

    Beer £4, wine £5–£7+/glass or £17–£265/bottle, cocktails £8–£15, champagne £10–£14/glass or £49–£390/bottle, shots £7–£14+.

  • What to Wear / Dress Code

Smart casual: button-downs, suits, nice sweaters, designer dresses, sexy skirts, fashionable scarves.

    No shorts or sneakers.

  • Hot Nights / When to Go

Early evening on the weekends to snag a seat before the bar becomes too crowded, or later to join snazzy pre-clubbers starting their night with something exotic.

  • Close By

The Red Fort on street level offers upscale Indian dining and can make for a wonderful romantic dinner before getting adventurous over cocktails at Zenna.
