Party Earth Vibe Bar Review

A Brick Lane fixture for over a decade, the vibrant Vibe Bar is a hip but welcoming local hangout that helped popularize London’s East End.

A buzzing beer garden in the cobblestone courtyard serves as the entrance to Vibe Bar, and given its rows of picnic tables, on-tap beer, and barbecue stand, it’s no wonder that many patrons never make it beyond the garden.

Those who do descend the narrow steps into the bar, however, will find themselves in the Old Truman Brewery, which makes up the venue’s unexpectedly sprawling space. The sparse décor and shabby furniture of the lounge area on the first floor has the no-nonsense feel of a typical dive, while a bright atrium with green-cushioned benches and a wall of windows that stretch to the ceiling offers a delightful place to enjoy the sunlight, order a pitcher of cocktails, and watch the action in the courtyard.

On the upper level is Vibe Live, a modern performance and art space that features a gallery and an enormous open room fitted out with a state-of-the-art sound system and a stage that hosts an ever-changing lineup of DJs, live musicians, and innovative multimedia installations.

Popular with an artsy East End clientele, Vibe Bar boasts a relaxed yet lively atmosphere where patrons can experience a unique blend of laidback revelry and cutting-edge music.

Great Bar With Cool Customers
Catherine J. Mar 22, 2013
Vibe Bar is just genuinely cool. There's no other word to describe it. The layout is nothing but a view beaten up leather couches and some offbeat wall art (think vintage Ron Jeremy posters near the bathrooms). The floors are sticky with spilt beer and the walls are painted a pretty gross, bright red--but it's these quirks that make Vibe Bar so great. It doesn't try too hard to be a trendy Brick Lane bar, it just is. It's like a mix between a dive bar and a hipster lounge. A dive lounge? Local bands play weekly, treating patrons to incredibly intimate sets. There's a large courtyard out front that's packed on Sundays with people taking a break from shopping at the Brick Lane market. A lot of people stay for hours on Sundays, swapping their afternoon beers for harder stuff as the night goes on. The main clientele are your basic Shoreditch kids, mostly in their early 20's, so expect a young crowd. There's also an upstairs area that's available to hire, but it's basically the same as the main downstairs. Also, the bar is cash-only, so come prepared! (There is a cash machine on site, but it will charge you.)
