Party Earth Shochu Lounge Review

The Scene

Shochu Lounge in Fitzrovia, London is a swanky subterranean den of exotic shōchū cocktails. Kick off your night in a chic but chill spot with Party Earth.

A Japanese-themed destination for those with sultry tastes and a nose for exotic drinks, Shochu Lounge is an easy-to-miss venue that focuses on exactly what its name suggests.

Shōchū – a distilled Japanese beverage often compared to vodka in taste – gets far less attention than sake, the country’s primary boozy export, but fashionable patrons who hunt down the small entrance to this cozy lounge will discover a wealth of this beverage waiting below.

Hidden beneath chic partner restaurant Roka, the windowless basement space features a dark wood bar at its center, surrounded by crimson-cushioned seating areas where Fitzrovia’s successful media types can stretch out after a long day.

Although a vibrant Manga-inspired mural takes up one wall, the vibe is subdued and conversation-friendly, making it a good spot to kick off the night or wind down an early evening.

While the bartenders will serve a pint if asked, the cocktail menu is the real draw, with sweet house punches, specialty martinis, and even champagne concoctions served with a shōchū twist.

Roka’s full menu is available to drinkers, so glam pre-clubbers and trendy groups of friends can also fill up on sushi, lobster, yakitori, and other delectable treats from the restaurant’s contemporary menu.

Though on the pricier end of the spectrum, Shochu Lounge is an alluring spot to check out for unique drinks and a sexy, subterranean atmosphere.
