Party Earth Oscar Bar & Restaurant at the Charlotte Street Hotel Review

The Scene

Oscar Bar & Restaurant in London's Fitzrovia is a trendy bar in the luxury Charlotte Hotel that always attracts a good crowd. Treat yourself in London with Party Earth.

Located in the luxury boutique Charlotte Street Hotel, Oscar Bar & Restaurant is a swanky but very upbeat watering hole that attracts lots of folks beyond the hotel’s moneyed guests.

Though most of these folks still have money, too.

Subtle green-gray paint, French doors, striped awnings, and elegant block lettering give the Charlotte a classy but understated aesthetic.

The lobby’s dark furnishings and beige-brown theme also belie the airy scene that awaits in the nearby bar, where funky colorful murals of present-day London cover the walls, cozy gentleman’s-lounge chairs surround circular tables – topped with a crisp tablecloths – and bright hues purposefully conflict with muted light fixtures.

A white plaster bust of King George oversees the gleaming bar, where mixologists shake their way through a drinks list that includes expertly prepared classics and a ton of vintage wines.

Fitzrovia being London’s media mecca, the space is perennially busy with smartly suited professionals, as well as trendy shoppers and successful foreign tourists, all of whom enjoy generously sized platters of British fusion cuisine like lamb, salmon, and fresh Colchester rock oysters prepared in the open kitchen.

Despite the swank, the vibe is anything but pretentious, and the after-work crowd seamlessly transitions to regular life come evening, when business meetings turn personal over champagne and Fitzrovia scenesters prime their night like confident celebs worthy of an Oscar (Bar).
