A welcome addition to the charming Maiden Lane a few blocks south of Covent Garden Piazza, Jewel Covent Garden is indeed a jewel of a venue whose four different bars each offers a unique setting.
The Crystal Bar at the entrance level boasts a spectacular chandelier and cathedral ceilings fittingly adorned with murals of angels and romantic Greek mythology, as well as a black lacquered bar gleaming with spirits and a smattering of tables where patrons gather for relaxing chats with friends.
Up on the mezzanine is Blancha Bar, a white-themed space with sleek leather booths, mirrors, and modern crystal light fixtures, while the basement is home to the contrasting Bacchus Bar, a moody room with dark wood paneling, looming Roman-style sculptures, ornate ivy detailing, and a platform above the bar where the occasional group of dancers shows up to get the crowd moving.
Jewel’s most intimate space is the Long Bar, a candlelit area with little café tables perfect for a quiet rendezvous.
While the weekday crowd of flirtatious after-work professionals gives way to a slightly younger, in-the-mood-for-dancing weekend group, the result at Jewel is always the same – a friendly, welcoming atmosphere in a glamorous setting.
Down-to-earth groups of single-sex friends, city workers, and travelers, 20s to 30s.
DJs spin hip-hop, pop, and funk in different rooms on Fridays and Saturdays.
Bar snacks, gourmet sandwiches, salads, and sharing platters with olives, edamame, and artichoke flatbread. Happy Hour daily 5–8pm.
Cover charge depends on the night, but generally free earlier in the evening. Snacks £2.50+, sharing platters £15. Wine £4.60+/glass or £17+/bottle, cocktails £7.40+, champagne cocktail £8.20+.
Smart casual. Denim allowed, but nice shoes and polished appearance are necessary.
Fridays and Saturdays.
