Playa d'en Bossa, Ibiza –
Nestled on the sand near the northern edge of Es Cavallet beach, El Chiringuito is a distinctly modern – and rather swanky – take on the traditional seaside eatery.
Thatched palm fronds cover much of the roof, but this is no typical casual cabana, evident in the chic couples lazily lounging on stark-white sun beds or sipping champagne and fine wine beneath the dozens of umbrellas that line the beach.
Heavy trays of locally caught fish and large bowls of signature paella flow non-stop from the kitchen, as fashionable entourages amble along the teak decking that rims the perimeter and DJs spin deep house harmonies that mix with the sea air. Most of the seating is outside, though a small indoor dining area provides room for the parents in floaty summer dresses and colorful Vilebrequins who need a break from the sun, leaving their lucky kids to frolic freely in the turquoise waters steps away.
Wedding and other celebratory groups often book the venue, while star DJs from stalwart clubs like Amnesia occasionally amp up the vibe, but most days find this remote little restaurant as chill as its fresh pitchers of house sangria.
A stylish eatery that puts a whole new glitzy spin on “a day at the beach,” El Chiringuito leaves its guests full, sun-soaked, and ready to take on the Ibizan night.
Wealthy young professionals, stylish families, and bohemian fashionistas in search of a casual restaurant with style, mid-20s to 50s.
DJs spin mostly mellow house starting around lunch time. Bigger-name DJs occasionally booked.
Mediterranean seafood cuisine with an additional meat-heavy menu. Beach bed service. Massage service. Small boutique store on site. Reservations suggested.
Appetizers €8–€15, entrées €12–€30, desserts €9+. Beer €10+, wine €20+, cocktails €12+.
Stylish beach wear: summer dresses, silk slips over bikinis, white linen pants, cotton shorts, breezy shirts.
Any summer day during lunch to see El Chiringuito full of a classy crowd, or early evenings to chill out before hitting the clubs.
At the end of Es Cavallet beach, a cliff-side walk stretches along the coast and is a great way to work off the venue’s very popular chocolate cake.
