Party Earth Review: Tucked away behind an Arabian-style keyhole door in San Rafael is El Ayoun, an elegant restaurant and lounge with a decidedly Moroccan and Middle Eastern flair. Most of the venue’s space has been given over to the vast terrace and garden, whose white-tented dining enclaves and candlelit tables create a soothing aura conducive to long and lingering dinners. Inside, the bar and lounge areas feature more keyhole archways and a tasteful décor of traditional Middle Eastern furnishings and textiles which, paired with the dim lighting throughout, lends the space an atmosphere that’s chic and fashionable and very conducive to flirting and mingling. Ambient lounge music earlier on, mostly house spun by the resident DJ starting around midnight. Performances by a trapeze artist/acrobatic contortionist on the terrace twice nightly.
