Located directly in front of the most luxurious hotels in town, some of the best shopping in the French Riviera, and the busiest nightlife in Cannes, the Plage de la Croisette has miles of beautiful sandy beaches filled with sunbathers and swimmers enjoying the clear, warm water.

A fair portion of the beach is taken up by hotel lounge chairs and beach bars, but there is ample room at either end for those who wish to enjoy the beach free of charge.

Sunbathers looking for a more luxurious beach experience can rent space at one of the private beaches and be treated to a comfy lounge chair and bar service, while sporty types can find plenty of activities from wind surfing and water skiing to the pick-up football and volleyball games that often take place near the famous amphitheater of the Cannes Film Festival at the end of the beach.

No matter where beachgoers lay their towels at Plage de la Croisette, however, they are all guaranteed a perfect viewing spot for the spectacular Cannes sunset.

Tip from Adriana:

For a great experience on one of Cannes’ private beaches, show up earlier in the day to secure an umbrella and a chair so you can be waited on in style before the masses of people arrive. If you’re sleeping in after a late night of dancing, though, there’s usually plenty of space on the white sand of the free public beaches – still within walking distance of the stores and bars, too.

    Beachwear.

All I see is beautiful people...

A beach with sand! Somehow a rarity in the French Riviera, Plage de la Croisette has the luxury of sand as well as the clientele to enjoy it. The people here are beautiful. In the too-tanned, too-white teeth kind of way, but they’re still jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Imagine hanging around a roomful of mostly naked models. If you manage to ignore the odd fleshy German tourist, it’s like being at a fashion shoot. Laying out with the rich, famous, and too-damn-beautiful is a good time in and of itself, but the fact that this is an amazing beach—sand that slips between your toes, clear water—makes this a perfect place to spend your beach day, and very much worth paying for.
