Party Earth Review: Just a little way past the pedestrian walkway of Rue Masséna sits La Havane, an upscale salsa venue offering live Latin music and dancing almost every night of the week. Tiki-style umbrellas on the patio put the high energy patrons in an island state of mind, while inside, the red lighting, Latin beats, palm trees, tropical birds, and murals of Cuban life inspire even the wallflowers to join the talented salsa dancers demonstrating their sensual moves on the dance floor. Those who need a little extra push, however, can pick up some tips from the international dance competitions that are projected on the back wall or head to the second floor for a bird’seye view of the action below. Early evenings draw a sizable crowd that shows up to savor the wonderful Cuban/Caribbean menu and slow-dance to the more romantic tunes, but by 10pm, the upbeat salsa music and the well-dressed, international clientele it attracts definitely take over to create a fun-loving atmosphere. From a delectable dinner to a few animated hours on the dance floor, La Havane is a festive place to spend the whole evening.
