Across the street from the old port and a block away from the beach, The Quay’s is a typical Irish pub with a great view and a chatty, laidback clientele.

The cozy dark wood décor features a paddleboat hanging from the ceiling and a collection of foreign currency that pays tribute to the pub’s international regulars, as well as rustic barstools and whiskey-barrel tables where patrons gather to enjoy pints of Guinness, chilled cider, and live reggae music.

An enclosed terrace attracts a post-beach crowd that stops in after a day of seaside fun for a few cold beers, an excellent variety of whiskeys, and some good conversation.

Although the pub is particularly busy on game nights when fans cram in to catch rugby and football matches, there’s usually a good, easygoing crowd just about any night of the week.

The atmosphere is always open and relaxed, making Quay’s a terrific spot to meet new people.

Irish pub in Cannes
Tara R. Dec 13, 2012
We hit a new city, we find the nearest Irish pub. It’s a tradition at this point. Of course, after a long day in Cannes tourist-ing movie theater where all the premieres are shown and walk in the footsteps of the rich and famous, we were in the mood for something more down-to-earth and relaxed, and we found it here at The Quay’s. On the other side of the port from the glossy pseudo-Hollywood sign was our laid-back, Irish-music-playing and Guinness-pouring haven. We didn’t stay long, but long enough for a favorable impression to imprint on our minds. In a city obsessed with the one week of glitz and glamour, it’s necessary to find somewhere that isn’t quite as gilded.
