Cannes, French Riviera –
Though it’s located just off the main shopping street of Rue d’Antibes, Morrison’s Irish Pub offers a homey refuge from the luxurious décor of its glitzy neighbors.
This friendly English bar draws a faithful crowd of casual sporty types and features a rustic environment of dark wood tables, whiskey barrels, lanterns, a TV tuned to sports, and quotes by native son James Joyce scribbled on the walls.
Masses of locals and sports fans pack the lower floor when there’s a big game on, so patrons not into sports might want to walk up the creaky stairs to the second level where they’ll find a dusty bookshelf lined with Irish novels and poetry, as well as an ideal spot to enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the action below.
On game-free nights, live bands playing rock, jazz, and jaunty Irish music entertain the Guinness-chugging crowd.
Those looking for a slightly more stylish experience can pop into Morrison’s Lounge right next door, which has a similar décor but a younger, hipper, and better-dressed congregation sipping cocktails and grinding to DJ-spun house music until the wee hours.
Regulars, expats, sports fans, and travelers, early 20s+.
Live music on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, often includes rock, jazz, or Irish music. DJ every night but Wednesday at Morrison’s Lounge.
Happy Hour daily 5–8pm.
Beer €6, wine €4+, mixed drinks and shots €5+.
Casual, a bit nicer on the weekends.
Sundays draw a large crowd for Ladies’ Night, when women go for the cheap drinks and men inevitably follow them there. The crowd starts to arrive around 9:30pm.
