Nice, French Riviera –
A casual Norwegian pub serving enormous mugs of beer, Akathor is a welcome retreat for weary city dwellers, local hipsters, and travelers looking for a laid-back place to settle in for a couple of hours.
A relaxing terrace that often features a solo singer earlier in the evening attracts an after-beach crowd for the Happy Hour pints, while the downstairs area features a long dark wood bar and a skilled international staff that draws a diverse international clientele.
An upstairs bar – whose décor of stone arches, paddles, and armor recalls an Old Viking lair – plays host to live rock and jazz bands nearly every night and is particularly popular with hipsters and young indie types who flock in to enjoy Akathor’s slightly underground music scene.
Local hipsters and indie types, early 20s.
Live music almost every night, mainly rock and jazz. Karaoke every Monday evening, Ladies’ Night on Tuesdays, salsa dancing with professional dancers on Wednesdays, THORsday with happy hour all evening on Thursdays, and darts competitions on Sundays.
Happy Hour M–W and F–Su until 9pm (pints only), Th until close.
Beer €3.50–€5.50, cocktails €9.50, shots €3.50–€5.
Casual.
The largest crowds show up Thursdays through Saturdays.
