There are tons of reasons to visit and party in Côte d’Azur: the beaches are amazing, the people are beautiful, the water is cool, and the nightlife is hot. Coming to see live music definitely isn’t at the top of the list, but there are still enough music venues in the French Riviera that cater to big name stars and lounge singers alike to satiate any music starved fan in need of some good rocking out.
For the music obsessed and Top 40 followers, there are still a few big time music venues that have seen the likes of Madonna and Coldplay – granted they may have wanted to bring the family on vacation at the same time – but you can’t really blame them. The large-scale music halls that do exist are Palais Nikaia, L’altherax, and Stade Charles-Ehrmann which host the Mediterranean paradise’s biggest shows.
For the nightly music lovers in the French Riviera, it’s probably better to scope out the smaller venues where smooth tunes can be heard coming from more intimate haunts on any given night. In Nice, jazz can be found at Sun 7 Café, live rock at Blue Whales, Ma Nolan’s and Wayne’s, and Cuban and Latin music at La Havane. While in Juan-les-Pins, revelers can catch live Brazilian beats at Pam Pam Rhumerie.
Granted, French Riviera music venues won’t hold a candle to the Continent’s other music centric cities, but if you want to catch some swinging live jazz, toe tapping tunes, or maybe a big name star during the summer on-season, you’ll undoubtedly find something that fits your fancy.
