French Riviera Festivals Overview

When thinking about festivals in the French Riviera, it’s easy to get caught up in the glitz and glamour of the Cannes Film Festival. But with such a wide variety of arts and entertainment options along the Mediterranean, there are actually quite a few French Riviera festivals that appeal to all types.

The Cannes Film Festival is the most well-known festival along the coast, and for good reason. Every year in May, hundreds of filmmakers, A-list stars, and their entourages flock to the gorgeous seaside city to display their latest works and soak in some Vitamin D during the day.

For music lovers, two of the best jazz festivals in the world take place in Nice and Juan-les-Pins. There’s the Nice Jazz Festival, which has been in operation since 1948 and seen the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles, and Muddy Waters. While Jazz a Juan has been running for more than 50 years where legends like Miles Davis and Ella Fitzgerald have participated in the past.

Not surprising, one of the best annual shopping festivals takes place in Cannes with elaborate fashion shows and shopping events.

When you’re in paradise, you’ll still want to find great things to do, and whether you’re in town for Bastille Day on July 14th or celebrating New Year’s at a fabulous club, there are plenty of festivals and events to make sure every day in the French Riviera is filled with perfection.
