Juan-les-Pins, French Riviera –
Tucked away between two high-fashion shops in downtown Juan-les-Pins and identifiable only by its discreet neon blue M, Minimal Club is one of the more casual and unpretentious dance clubs in town. The venue attracts a laid-back clientele of true music lovers and regular clubbers in the mood to escape some of the glitz of the city’s other clubs.
The focal point is the wide dance floor, speckled by light from the starscape of disco balls overhead and surrounded by flat-screen TVs displaying sensual silhouettes of dancing women.
A red-lit booth in the back hosts a DJ who spins house and techno music for the high-energy crowd that’s more likely to be moving on the dance floor than lounging on the black leather sofas.
Although there's plenty in the way of entertainment in the main room, patrons looking for a low-key break can slip through the club’s back door and into the Kitten Club, a feminine enclave featuring pink lighting and sofas.
In this little den, a mixed crowd of men and women sip cocktails served by saucy waitresses in French-maid costumes while topless dancers move to smooth jazz in the background.
Apparently Minimal Club is all about minimal attire too.
