The sports, music, and entertainment venues in Florence aren’t necessarily the biggest in Europe, but there are still enough fans and party-hungry revelers to keep Florentines stimulated any day of the week.
There are only a handful of large-scale music halls, but the ones that are in the city play host to international superstars throughout the year. Some of the bigger venues are the Nelson Mandela Forum and Teatro Puccini which feature A-list talent, while smaller spots cater to up-and-comers, jazz musicians, and soloists looking for their big break.
Like most European cities, it’s football that reigns supreme in Florence, and whenever ACF Fiorentina is playing, more than fifty-thousand rabid, screaming fans pack into Stadio Artemio Franchi to cheer on the home team.
Of course there are plenty of other Florence venues that cater to a more discerning palate with a number of theaters and concert halls for live shows and classical music.
But when you’re really looking to tie one on late in the night, there’s nothing better than heading out to Piazza Santa Croce or Piazzale Michelangelo to hang with hundreds of other young Florentines as they bar hop, club hop, and restaurant hop around the plazas looking for the wildest scene of the night.
