The Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, created in 1995, is situated on Via dei Tornabuoni, the Rodeo Drive of Florence. The museum lies adjacent to the Ferragamo retail store.
Dedicated to the craft of the talented shoemaker and founder of the luxury brand, the museum features over 10,000 models of shoes dating from the beginning of Ferragamo’s career in the 1920s to the end of his life in 1960. The intricate detail and craftwork seen in each design allows Ferragamo to live up to his name and reputation as one of the most revered and innovative designers of his time.
The museum highlights Ferragamo’s career as a shoemaker, which began at the age of 13, and the history of the company that captivated celebrity admirers such as Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe.
Attached to the museum is a gift shop containing souvenir items and miniature models of the designs featured in the exhibition.
