Soccer easily reigns supreme in the world of Florence sports, and professional Italian football club ACF Fiorentina – commonly referred to as Serie A Fiorentina or simply Fiorentina – never has trouble filling the fifty-thousand capacity Stadio Artemio Franchi with loud and rowdy fans.

Thanks to its incredible climate and stunning landscape, there are many other activities and sports in Florence to partake in as well. Cycling is one of the major sports enjoyed by pros and sweaty tourists alike, from mellow jaunts along city bike paths to full on Tuscany tours.

The Florence Marathon (Maratona di Firenze) is the second-largest marathon in Italy, and guides some 10,000 runners through some of the city's most beautiful architectural gems. Rowing is frequently taken up on the River Arno, while the rivers in Tuscany offer lively sport for fishing enthusiasts.
