Just across the street from the grand Piazza Santa Croce is Oibò, a trendy lounge and restaurant that attracts a stylish and refined clientele looking to enjoy a scenic lunch or a chic night out.

Sleek yet cozy, the venue's décor strikes a balance between old and new, offsetting the old stone walls with such elegant touches as a glowing orange staircase, large windows, and glossy furnishings.

The main feature is the illuminated green bar with its signature vine detailing, where many of the mingling guests gather to sip elaborate cocktails.

An outdoor patio offers a view of the Santa Croce Basilica and hosts a constant flow of people by day and a well-dressed crowd of locals by night, while on the weekends, the space transforms into an intimate yet rowdy club setting easily recognizable by the women dancing in the windows and the boisterous groups of young people congregating in the street.

Whether in the mood to dance and sing along to the music or just to enjoy new friends and good conversation, patrons can certainly find the vibe they’re looking for at the versatile Oibò.

The most unique experience here is Friday night’s classic Italian playlist – at 1am, the DJ starts playing the most well-known Italian songs as the entire crowd sings along with the music. Great fun!

ok bar

This bar is right on the square of Santa Croce and has a nice happy hour buffet too. Drinks are expensive but this place is very popular and at prime times it can be hard to find seats. I can eat standing the but the girls I was with weren’t happy coz they had worn heels. This place is another one that tries too hard to be modern and cool and its ok but its not an amazing bar and it thinks it is, which is annoying. They also charge too much for beer after happy hour which isn’t great.
Great decor and venue, but not the place to meet new people

I went on a Saturday night and it was pretty full, but I didn't really enjoy the crowd. There were Heineken representatives dressed up handing out flyers and working the crowd, but people did not really get into it. The bartenders were not that friendly and people seemed to come with their small group of friends and not want to meet other people. Although, it is a super cool space and a great location to get your night going. It's perfect for starting the night with your friends then heading down the street to a livelier club to meet new people.
Start, don't end, at Oibò

Go to Oibò for their Italy Meets USA event on Wednesday nights. The mixer is meant to integrate local Italians with the large American student population in Florence. If you get there early enough, you’ll receive a drink card that grants you a 2 for 1 special. Bottles of grey goose that line the bar and a shining disco ball are all part of the décor at Oibò. There are tables inside, along the perimeter of the bar, making the path to the bathroom a bit narrow. There are also tables outside of the bar if you need to get some fresh air. The bartenders are super friendly and a little flirting with one in particular, Guido, may even get you a free drink. On a holiday, like Liberation Day in April, the bar gets crowded, and patrons will spill out into the streets to socialize. Oibò is in one of the best nightlife areas in Florence, Santa Croce. Right next door are tons of other bars, so you can hop from one to the other. Definitely start your night at Oibò and then make your way to another spot.
