Jazz Club Firenze Information

Opened in 1979, Jazz Club Firenze is an underground, member’s only venue in Florence, Italy.

The spot, which offers live music Tuesday through Saturday, and not limited to jazz, also features blues, funk, Brazilian, Cuban, and rock music.

Peter Weller, Danilo Rea, and Barbara Casini are among past performers at the club.

Events at Jazz Club Firenze include free Tuesday night jam sessions, Thursday blues nights, jazz workshops, and private parties.

The club’s 5-Euro membership fee is a sweet deal for jazz lovers who can grab a 4-Euro beer, relax, and get lost in the velvety music coming from the stage.

Age wise a pretty diverse crowd. Entertainment: Live music Prices: beer and wine €5, cocktails €7 What to wear: Some people will be in jeans, some will be dressed up, and some in between. Vibe: Friendly, good for groups Characters Liked By: Jonah, Emma The entrance to Jazz Club is nothing special- an opaque door with the words “Jazz Club” in yellow lights. The door opens onto a staircase, and you have to head down into the club which is a lot larger than you’d expect from looking at the outside. The staircase leads you into the bar area, which is a little separated from the tables and the stage. The lights are pretty dim, and the walls are decorated with black and white pictures of famous musicians. We ended up going on a night where the band wasn’t playing jazz- instead the theme was “John Travolta Disco Explosion”. They played a lot more 80s music than disco, but it ended up being an incredibly fun evening. People were dancing, including some of the staff, and after the band left the stage there was still music playing and it was clear that people weren’t ready to go home. Of all the live music or jazz clubs in Florence, be sure to put this one on your list! I think the scene for Jazz Club probably changes a little bit depending on what kind of band is playing (the music for the next few days can usually be found on the venue’s Facebook page). The night I was there it was mostly 20 and 30 somethings, but some people older than that as well. Regardless of age, the crowd is definitely unpretentious and relaxed, even though they might be dancing until closing time. The menu is pretty standard for the spots in Florence: beer, wine and cocktails, though nothing special or crazy. At the bar there was a small buffet of finger food, and there is a small section for food on the menu. Given that the place is open until 5 am, I guess they can’t expect people not to get hungry. The food is definitely not the highlight of the place, though. Beer and wine €5, cocktails €7 Given that Jazz Club is a very musician friendly place, outfits were ranging. Some people (mostly guys) had jeans and flannel on- but made it look cool in the way only musicians can do. There were people in smart casual and then people even a little bit more dressed up than that. The one thing about this place that might be a turnoff is that you need a membership to get in. You can get your tessera (membership card) when you walk in- you don’t need to do it in advance- and it costs €10 (though that includes a free drink!) They do this because they want people to come back- and I think you will want to.
