Located in the center of Florence’s quaint Piazza Santo Spirito, PopCafé is a progressive international eatery and bar with great prices that keep its regulars coming back time and again.

As the only all-vegetarian café in Florence, the venue draws a diverse and loyal clientele of students, Florentines, and travelers who flock in for lunch, brunch, and the ever-popular afternoon aperitivo buffet.

The practical décor of light wood benches and bars not only creates a humble refuge from the busy streets, but also reflects the café’s focus on sustainability – everything in the place is environmentally friendly, from the light bulbs to the trash compactor.

Whether the laid-back bohemian clientele is hanging out at the tables to converse or gathering in the street to mingle, one thing is sure – PopCafé offers an open and welcoming atmosphere at which patrons are guaranteed to meet friendly, like-minded people from around the world.

Contemporary Italy on display

PopCafé rounds off Piazza Santo Spirito's eclectic vibe with a punch of contemporary Italian culture. Very relaxed but distinctly trendy - its modern, if spartan décor is matched perfectly by its cosmopolitan clientèle - it offers locals, expats, and travelers alike a venue and opportunity to come together for the age-cold combination of good food and great conversation. Weeknight aperitivo attracts perhaps the busiest crowd: 6 or 7 euros get you a prosecco, spritz, glass of wine, or mixed drink (my favourite: a Garibaldi) plus a healthy serving from the vegetarian buffet (which includes a noteworthy pasta salad in the summer months). Across the piazza from a number of more traditional options, PopCafe offers a taste of an alternative "local" experience in a laid-back, worldly crowd.
nice friendly cafe

This square is nice for tourist and Italian mingling and this bar is the same. Its not divisive like other places in Florence and there’s no animosity from the Italians which is nice coz a lot of the time they make it clear they don’t like tourists being here. Most people drink wine here but if you’re a beer drinker they have some bottled beer here. The drink-with-food is good here though there’s not as much choice and they watch your plate to make sure you don’t take too much food. Sitting outside here is best coz you can watch the whole square.
Best Cafe on San Spirito

I know it wasn't the most authentically Italian cafe I've ever been to, but Pop Café was certainly the most welcoming. While other Italian cafes can be overwhelmingly snobbish or split as “local” versus “study abroad” students very easily, Pop Café doesn’t seem to have this stigma. Italians actually socialize with the expats here, and the friendly, relaxed vibe of the place spills out into the piazza, where smokers befriend each other over a lighter despite a language barrier and bored teenagers kick calcio balls across the square. Glasses of wine at Pop Café are the best place to start any night out in Florence.
