Sports fans will want to congregate in the front room with its plethora of TVs tuned into the “big game,” while those in the mood for mingling will find plenty of people to chat with at the standing-roomonly bar.

A dark two-level room in the back features long picnic tables, a DJ booth, and a dance floor that invariably becomes the scene of most of the action, whether it be a beer pong tournament, a karaoke session, live bands rocking the house, or just a wild night of dancing.

Regardless of the activity, patrons at The Red Garter will always find a friendly, outgoing crowd ready to share familiar traditions in a familiar setting.

The beer pong tournaments on Tuesday nights are always a good time. Sign up around 10pm to secure a spot before the tournament starts at 11pm. Participants get Happy Hour prices on beer, too!

American pop music. DJs spin in the back room. Theme nights include karaoke Mondays and Wednesdays–Saturdays, beer pong tournaments on Tuesdays, Wings and Margaritas Night on Wednesdays, Live Music and a DJ set on Saturdays, and televised sports on Sundays.

The adjoining restaurant, The House of Sizzle, is a typical American steak house and grill serving steaks, hamburgers, chicken strips, fries, onion rings, milkshakes, and hot wings. Happy Hour daily until 9:30pm.

Onion rings €2.50, french fries €2.50, wings €0.50 each, burgers €5. Draft beer available in five sizes €4+. Cocktails €6.50+ or €16/two-liter pitcher.

From strip steaks, to beer pong, to current radio hits, American's can truly feel at home while at The Red Garter. The location, reasonable prices, and raging party atmosphere seem to be what brings people back almost every night of the week.

Paul Tharian Apr 4, 2013 4.0 stars lively and happening every day of the week Red Garter is the place to be any night of the week .and on weekdays especially the beginning of the week if you want to party head to Red Garter because most other bars would be dead.The best part about this bar is that it has two sections one with tables and the other a make shift dance floor.There are live bands performing and also karaoke.I would also say that this is one of the biggest bars in florence. Its is pretty cheap too ,beer is around 5 euros and mixed drinks 6 euros.They have amazing burgers too.I love the place

Jessie Ohrozzcoe Feb 14, 2013 3.0 stars A great mix The Red Garter has been open for 50 years now and for good reason! I went there for Fat Tuesday and had a great time! I was a little apprehensive before going because I had heard it was a popular hangout for American students and I normally prefer the local scene instead. Once I got there I fell in love with the place! It has 2 rooms the first is a bar area where you can sit or stand and listen to some old school rap. The second room is at least double the size and has at least 20 tables... all for beer pong! You can buy a pitcher and play with your friends or enter a competition! There’s also karaoke which is a lot of fun to watch or join in! The drinks are great I had my first Singapore Sling there, it was so tasty. My friends and I easily made friends with both other American students and with locals as well. We were a big hit with a fun group of guys from Siena that ended up buying us a round of shots. The Red Garter is a great place to have fun and meet new people. A lot of locals end up there which is a plus for me.

comurp12 Dec 13, 2012 3.0 stars Always fun You can always count on Red Garter for a fun and hilarious night. I haven't gotten on stage to sing karaoke, but I think it's more fun to sit at the many picnic tables upstairs and watch the "singers" on the stage below. You can always count on groups of students belting out the words to a fun American pop song. The beer pong tournament is also fun to get involved in as an earlier activity, and by the end the dance floor is full. The bar gets pretty crowded too but you can always find a table upstairs overlooking the spectacle of karaoke, and the upstairs usually turns into a rowdy sing-a-long. The set up of Red Garter is great with the restaurant area, bar area, then back room stage, tables and dance floor. There is always something going on so check in during the day or on facebook to see what events you want to catch!

Jane'a Johnson Sep 14, 2012 3.0 stars The Red Garter - A Rollicking Good Time The Red Garter is loud. It is rollicking, it is rowdy, and it is sweaty. But apparently, the people here don’t need ventilation to have a good time. Most of the crowd at the Red Garter speak some form of English—though that’s no guarantee they’ll understand each other, since everyone is probably screaming at a sporting event screened on one of their many flat-screen televisions, or screaming the lyrics to an American pop song. Before the sun sets, the restaurant, called The House of Sizzle, serves pasta and American standards like French fries and hamburgers at the front of the house. The House of Sizzle also serves its specialty, huge hunks of medium rare Florentine steak. These behemoths are so large that they should be shared with at least two people, four being ideal. The food may not be anything to write home about, but it’s the atmosphere that sells this place, not it’s culinary prowess. The back of the house is where it really gets interesting. Picnic style tables that overlook a stage that either has a DJ or live music, encourage strangers to get to know one another. People there tend to be friendly, and loosened up by a few beers, almost everyone heads out to the dance floor for at least one song. It’s a spot that’s become a must stop for every young traveler, tourist or study abroad student in Europe.
