Yeah Yeah Yeahs Bio

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Coming together in 2000 from New York City, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs consist of friends Karen O, Nick Zinner, and Brian Chase, who produce a creative blend of alternative rock music with an indie and punk flair. The group began after O and Chase met while studying at Oberlin College in Ohio, however O transferred to New York University, where she met Zinner. O and Zinner formed a duo while at New York University, but needed a drummer so they asked Chase to join and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were born.

Fever to Tell was the group’s first album, which sold over 750,000 copies internationally. Since then, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has gone on to produce three other albums and has been nominated for three Grammys (2004, 2007, 2010) and five MTV Video Music Awards (2004, 2009). The Yeah Yeah Yeahs exclusive sound has earned it fast growing fame so be sure to check for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs tour dates soon!

Woah talk about stage energy! I saw Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Monolith Festival and they were simply amazing! The lead vocals, Karen O, was amazing to look at she literally makes you fall in love with her. The sound from the band was energy galore. You couldn't help but want to bob your head back and forth. I bought their cd and had it signed because they really made me a fan. I can't wait to see them again!

Karen O is an amazing performer, and you really don't know the Yeah Yeah Yeahs until you see them live. But if you prefer laid back or are just tiny, you might want to stick to high def video. Kids get rowdy, sure, but Karen O is infamous for throwing things into the crowd. Clothing sometimes, which some people think is cool, but occasionally heavier objects -- like full water bottles. Not only is that completely not something anyone is expecting to have to dodge at a concert, it causes HUGE waves of brutality. People will fight over that stuff, and then everyone within ten feet will have to fight, and then security makes the whole pit stand still for 30 seconds before the band can keep gong. It's a struggle, but if all you've ever wanted was the torn off sleeve of some front-woman's American Vintage kimino, be my guest. It's still great.
