Wax

Wax, born Michael Jones in 1980, is an American rapper, songwriter, and producer who became a YouTube sensation after uploading a few videos of himself, which eventually led to his stardom as a rapper.

Wax grew up listening to DJ Jazzy, Jeff &The Fresh Prince, and Too Short. In 2007, he and his twin brother, known as Herbal T, began posting videos of themselves on YouTube. After a few songs received several million hits, they decided to release an album together called Grizzly Season.

Wax’s style is relaxed and harnesses instrumental styles from Motown, dubstep, and Latin rhythms. Wax shows are casual affairs at which Wax plays the guitar, sings, raps, and banters with the audience.

Wax continues to record and produce his own music. Although he was booted from the Def Jams label in 2012, he released a new album in early 2013 featuring world-recognized producers such as EOM and Greg Wells.
